Shaylin Roark

Dance Style: Tumbling

Shaylin began dancing at the age of three at Beth’s Dance Academy (BDA) in Joliet, IL. She trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, contemporary, and tumbling. After many years at BDA, she moved to Ohio and joined the competitive team at Patty’s Dance Center in Newark, continuing her training in the same dance styles and adding competitive cheerleading to her skills. After living in Ohio for over a year, Shaylin and her family returned to Illinois, and she resumed dancing at BDA briefly. Soon after, Shaylin came to VDA and INNOVATION Dance Company and competed through her senior year of high school.

As a member of the INNOVATION Dance and Tap Troupe, Shaylin earned many scholarships, overall scores, photogenic awards, and convention invites. Notably, she won a regional title at Believe Dance Competition during her senior year. Shaylin was a member of the Plainfield Central Dance Team for all four years of high school, as well. At the age of 16, she began teaching dance and tumbling, focusing primarily on early childhood classes. Along with working at the studio, Shaylin is a full-time undergraduate student majoring in Biology, with plans to attend medical school and specialize in Emergency Medicine. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and love for dance and tumbling with her students, creating a fun and positive learning environment for them to learn and grow!
