Sofia Leija Montoya

Sofia is a 2024 graduate of Oswego East High School and currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Aurora University. She currently works as a substitute teacher for Districts 129 and 308. While she never danced professionally, she was a member of her middle school’s poms team.

She moved to the United States in 2017, and was very shy because she didn’t speak any English. Joining a small dance studio changed everything because it helped her build confidence, make lifelong connections, and showed her that dance is a place where everyone can feel welcomed, regardless of their background or personal challenges. She chose to join our VDA staff, because dance has always held a special place in her heart. She is grateful for the opportunity to support our students’ growth, even from the front desk.

Sofia is so excited to be part of the Vaughan family, and looks forward to getting to know all of the amazing students, families, and staff!
